Starting Croc Hire
They say if you want friends, buy a car trailer. Troy bought one, and the calls started coming in fast. Mates wanted to borrow it, and he let them, but strictly close friends. It was never meant to be a business. It was just helping people out.
That changed when income took a hit from events outside their control. Troy and La-Toya made the call to open rentals to the public, running it out the front of a 300 square metre block they rented in Aberglasslyn, and word spread fast. Demand kept building and they started turning people away, so they bought a second trailer. A move to a new location brought even bigger plans. The fleet expanded with trailers three and four, a caged box trailer, and eventually a cattle trailer. What began with a single car trailer was becoming something serious.
Why Troy switched to Lockii
Croc Hire grew quickly, but the day-to-day operation still ran through manual bookings, phone calls, and text messages. What started as a practical way to run the business began taking too much time away from higher-value work.
For Troy, this was not only an operations issue. It was also a personal one. He wanted more time back with his wife and kids, while still building momentum in the business.
In his words, Lockii gave him the ability to work on the business instead of being stuck in it.

The biggest shift was time. Instead of constantly managing booking admin, Troy could focus on expansion and long-term decisions.
Customers also noticed the difference. He consistently heard that the Lockii flow was easier to use than his previous hire software. That smoother experience reduced friction at booking time and made the process easier across different customer types.

Troy shared that customers have different habits: some want instant receipts every time, while others previously built up larger tabs before paying. With Lockii in place, both of those situations became easier to manage because payment and confirmation happen automatically, and customers can self service download copies of their invoices and details.
He also reflected on the timing of the switch. He nearly did not answer the call when Lockii first connected with him, and now describes that moment as a turning point for the business.
I now have more time back to expand. And my customers have also shared how easy it is to use. It has been a win-win for everyone.

What comes next for Croc Hire
Croc Hire started as a side cash project. Today it is a growing operation, and Troy plans to keep expanding with Lockii as the foundation.
One of his next goals is operational leverage: as he expands Troy wants to put in place a team to help setup new trailers as he expands accross the greater Hunter Valley region. And while he never wants to lose the personal touch of their team, he thinks Croc hire has a massive future because of self service rentals.
